Inspection of discarded empty packing material

  • Ankleshwar Industries Association and GPCB have approved AEPS (Ankleshwar Environmental Preservation Society) as inspection agency for drum inspection.
  • Any party can contact for inspection of discarded packing materials to AEPS.
  • After receipt of request letter AEPS chemist will visit the unit and identified the packing materials/drum/carboys to be discarded.

Procedure for inspection of packing materials

  1. It should be decontaminated by industry before inspection.
  2. AEPS chemist will select at least 10% drums/carboys on random basis.
  3. Chemist will pour 1 lit. Water in each selected drum.
  4. Composite samples will be taken from drums and under testing label will put on each drum/packing materials.
  5. After sampling, a Performa with Code will be given to the party regarding details of Inspection of packing materials.
  6. Samples will be analyzed at AEPS laboratory.
Packing materials will be rejected in case if:
  • Any chemicals/Sludge found in the packing materials/drum while physical checking.
  • PH of the sampling solution is beyond the limits of GPCB norms.
  • COD more than 250ppm.
  • Objectionable odor observed.

7.       If report is okay, then Chemist will again put the labels of “Inspected –OK” on each drum/packing material.
